ABOUT US

University of Piteşti (UPIT) is a state university, with over 10 000 students and approximately 500 in teaching and administrative staff. It consists of 6 different faculties offering Bachelor, Master and Doctor Diplomas (www.upit.ro). The areas in which UPIT is active and delivers services are: education & training; scientific & applicative research; guidance & counselling; professional orientation; international cooperation in different fields; publishing activities.The academic staff of UPIT consists of a body of experts and professionals with accredited and recognised results. UPIT has specialised departments: “Muntenia” Training Center, Teaching Staff Training Department, Center for Sustainable Development Projects, International Cooperation Center, Community Programme Office, Research Centers, “Development of Systems and Software Applications” Center, Center of Higher Education Quality Assurance, University of Piteşti Publishing House, University Library. 
UPIT is a full member of European Universities Association (EUA), Danube Rectors’ Conference (DRC), Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EfVET), European Distance and E-Learning Network (EDEN) working for direct implementation of Bologna Process, ECTS, ECVET and EQAVET. 
In the last 10 years UPIT was involved as coordinator or partner in over 100 research and cooperation EU financed projects, addressing various target groups (students, pupils, young persons, elderly, disadvantaged or vulnerable groups i.e. people with learning disabilities, persons at risk of social exclusion, unemployed, low qualified, etc.).
In all its internal structures, UPIT works for direct implementation of Bologna process & ECTS and ECVET.

OUR SKILLS

Key staff to be involved in this project:
CHIRLEŞAN Georgeta is Associate Professor Dr. She holds a Doctor degree in Physics and a PhD in Political Sciences. She has worked as coordinator and researcher in over 120 EU and national projects. She was Director of the International Relations Office (2003-2011). She is an expert in evaluation, member of the Romanian Service for Evaluation and Assessment, LLL and VET tools and methods developer. She published 31 books, 23 articles in specialty reviews and 55 scientific papers in national and international conferences. The themes of her research and projects cover physics, pedagogy and science education, VET training, didactic assessment, adult education, EU policies and strategies, social and labor market inclusion, sustainable and regional development, security and stability. To mention some regarding education and training: “Innovative Approach in Education and Training for Social Inclusion: Case Study”, “Effective Ways for Implementing Educational Policies: Direct Effects on Societal Security”, “Refining the competencies of the trainer in the context of contemporary migration of the labor force within European market”, “Promoting the recognizability of learning outcomes from Vocational Education to Higher Education”. She is also a VET trainer and trainer of trainers. She is a founding member of the Research Centre for Promoting Excellency in Professional Training (accredited by CNCSIS in 2005).
CHIRLEŞAN Dumitru is Associate Professor Dr. He holds a Doctor degree in Physics. He has worked as project manager/researcher in 65 national and transnational projects. For 8 years (2004-2012) he was the University’s of Pitesti Vice-Rector in charge of International Relations and Cooperation with the Socio-Economic Environment. Currently he is the Rector of UPIT. He is an expert in curriculum development and science education methodologies and strategies. He has published 59 scientific papers in national and international conferences, 13 studies in specialty reviews and 24 books. The themes of his research and projects comprise physics, education and training, training of disadvantaged categories, adult education, education for parents, pedagogy, didactic evaluation, institutional management, environment, social and labor market inclusion, regional development. Examples of scientific papers on education and training authored/co-authored by him: “Innovative Methods in Entrepreneurial Training of Immigrants”, “Changes in the Teaching Environment”, “Professional training for the protection of critical infrastructures – a component of the National Security Strategy”. He is also a VET trainer and trainer of trainers.
OPRESCU Benedict is Associate Professor Dr. He holds a Doctor degree in Physics. He was Dean of the Faculty of Sciences (2012-2016). His field of expertise is in plasma physics, curriculum design, development of didactic materials, VET and LLL. He was member of the research team in 9 national and EU funded projects (i.e. “Investigation of non-stationary heat transfer processes in liquefaction systems of hydrogen and its isotopes”, “Case-based e-learning for educators”, “Theoretical analysis of isotope separations by quantum filtration for different composite materials”).  Examples of specialty books authored/co-authored by him:  “Introduction to plasma physics – non-collision models”, “Experimental methods in plasma physics”, “Multiple Choice Physics Tests” and scientific papers ”Self Organisation processes in Low-Pressure Plasmas”, “Experimental Investigation on the Structure of a  Stationary Double-Layer”.
